Abstract

The method of streak photography is often used for the visualization of transient flows. With ordinary light sources there are strict limits to the time and space resolution which may be achieved, owing to the difficulty of passing enough light through a very narrow slit. With laser sources the difficulty no longer exists and much better resolution should be attainable. An example is given to show the optical arrangement required. An application to a framing camera is also described.
