Abstract

This paper is concerned with an extension of earlier work on the determination of harmonic balance conditions in autonomous multivariable nonlinear systems. A general formulation of the problem is given and the application of higher order harmonic approximates is investigated. Multistage vector minimisation techniques are used to obtain possible solution points and a useful graphical representation can be obtained in the complex frequency domain as a guide to the choice of suitable compensation elements for the avoidance of limit cycling conditions.
