Abstract
This article stared with a brief description of the propagation of femtosecond laser. Filament formation and spectral broadening are emphasized. Its novel characters bring the outstanding aspects of femtosecond lidar. Then the applications of femtosecond lidar in atmosphere remote sensing are discussed, namely Gas-phase Remote Sensing, Cloud Remote Sensing, Pollutants Remote Sensing and Bioaerosol Remote Sensing. In the end, two femtosecond laser systems used out of lab are introduced.
