Abstract

Objective To investigate the application of anatomization of recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) in thyroidectomy.Method Retrospectively analyzed RLN injury in 193 cases of thyroid gland surgery (106 cases in anatomical group,87 cases in control group) from June 2008 to July 2013.Results The operation time on one side in anatomical group was 52-96 min,an average of 65.3 min; that in control group was 45-68 min,an average of 52.6 min. There were 2 cases of RLN injury in anatomical group, accounting for 1.98%(2/106),without permanent recurrent laryngeal nerve injury. The incidcnce of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury in control group was 6.90% (6/87),with 2 cases (2.30%) of permanent injury. Conclusion Anatomization of recurrent laryngeal nerve is a effective method to reduce RLN injury and prevent permanent RLN injury in thyroidectomy.
