Abstract

It is shown that for wheel loading studies in grinding experiments with steel, brass and aluminium workpieces, alternative radiotracers may be employed depending on whether irradiation of the work specimens is carried out with thermal neutrons or 14-MeV neutrons. The two types of radiotracers generated are seen to have their respective merits and demerits. Consistent loading results were obtained for each of the three types of work material, from separate experiments conducted using the alternative radiotracers.
