Abstract

As a complex branch of mechanics, aerodynamics has been widely used in automobile design, especially in racing. In recent years, in the field of engineering application, the role of aerodynamics has become increasingly prominent, helping engineers solve many engineering problems that have not been solved before. At the same time, due to the development of aerodynamics, conditions have not been created for the rapid development of the automotive field. Therefore, this paper summarizes the basic principles of fluid mechanics, conducts experiments, and extends the laws from simple graphics to complex models to explain how aerodynamics is applied to the design of racing car shapes. The research shows that the rear fender and DRS system significantly improve the performance of modern vehicles; In the last century, ground effect and dolphin effect were both useful applications in automobile design, but they are no longer used. The development of modern technology has promoted the mechanism of racing design, and the latest development has yet to be determined.
