Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of application of acellular bovine pericardium patch in secondary hydroxyapatite prosthesis implantation. Methods The hydroxyapatite prosthesis were implanted wrapped with acellular bovine pericardium patch in 46 eyes of 46 cases. All patients were followed up for 6-24 months. The efficacy of surgery was evaluated and analyzed. Results In 46 cases, 43 cases (93.48%) were primary healing. Poor healing of bulbar conjunctival and Tenon capsule occurred in 3 cases. They were healed after conservative treatment. At the end of follow-up, no prosthesis exposure, immigration or inflammation occurred. Conclusion Acellular bovine pericardium patch is the best substitute of autologous or allogeneic tissue used in implantation to wrap the prosthesis.
