Abstract
Summary A new in vitro test (anti-haemolysin-inhibition) is described for the diagnosis of Corynebacterium ovis infection in animals; sera containing antibodies to C. ovis neutralize the inhibitory action of this organism upon staphylococcal β-lysin. The test was specific and good coincidence was noted between its results and the actual isolation of C. ovis from infected animals. The test appeared to be more reliable than other serological tests. The magnitude of the disease in sheep was investigated; lesions were compared with those of goats.
