Abstract

That the horizontal component of the Earth's magnetic field undergoes a variation which is associated with the sunspot‐cycle has been noted by numerous investigators. Particularly noteworthy is the monumental work of Moos (Magnetic observations made at the Government Observatory, Bombay, 1846–1905, Part 2, 265, 1910) in which the data from Bombay are discussed. Fisk (Proc. Fourth Pacific Sci. Cong., Java, 1929, v. 2, 517–534, 1930) has also investigated the problem in another way.
