Abstract

We first derive a classical relation ϱ 0 G a = ( D μ J μ ) a . Then we calculate the quantum version of this relation in two dimensions. This procedure provides a method of obtaining the anomaly of D μ J μ (chiral current) from the Schwinger terms of the equal time commutation relations. By this consideration we can also understand easily the difficulties in quantizing anomalous gauge theories.
