Abstract
The anodic oxidation of benzyl alcohol in acetonitrile has been investigated by preparative electrolysis at a rotating Pt disc with and without a PTFE scraper blade. The kinetics of the process have been investigated by potentiostatic pulse measurements. A reaction scheme in which the first electron transfer is rate determining is proposed. The results are compared with those of the anodic oxidation of anisyl alcohol.
