Abstract

Defect centres produced by low-temperature radiation damage in type Ib diamond have been studied using optical spectroscopy and thermal annealing. The phenomena are interpreted in terms of the trapping and detrapping of the self-interstitial to form a family of nitrogen–interstitial complexes.
