Abstract
Abstract It is shown by means of the equation of motion technique that the (periodic) Anderson model is exactly solvable in the limit of a large spin orbit degeneracy N. At zero temperature the f-electron spectral function consists only of a delta function-like Kondo peak in the limit N → ∞. Including 1/N corrections one gets, in the Kondo limit, the more physical result of a broad peak at the f-level position E0 and a narrow Kondo peak above the Fermi energy.
