Abstract

Approximately 4000–5000 Egyptian artifacts (usually dated until the 8th century AD) are housed in institutional and private collections in Croatia. The most of institutional collections can be found in archaeological museums (between 3335 and 3343), in regional and town museums (between 571 and 582), in lapidariums and in situ (11), and in other cultural institutions (3). At least 500 artifacts are housed in known private collections in Croatia. The most of these artifacts are typical smaller objects used as funerary equippement but within this vast number of objects, larger groups of statues, sphinxes, sarcophagy, stelae, papyri and mummies can also be identified.
