Abstract

Background: Many women undergo partial or total mastectomy for the surgical resection of breast cancer. The pedicled latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap has been an important surgical option for breast reconstruction after mastectomy for over a century. This flap is supplied by the thoracodorsal artery, a branch of the subscapular artery.
