Abstract

The palmar fascia is a prolongation of the deep fascia of the forearm and continues out into the fingers to join Cleland's ligament. It is firmly fixed to the palmar aspect of the skin from the distal wrist crease to the distal palmar crease. It basically protects the flexor tendons, lumbricals, and neurovascular structures, and separates these by thick paratendinous bands.
