Abstract
Native arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the best choice to achieve the vascular access (VA) for haemodialysis (HD) [Ene-Iordache, 2011]. Despite technological advancements, today the VA still has significant early failure rates due to stenosis. VA stenosis is importantly related to the local disturbed flow, i.e. low and oscillating wall shear stress (WSS) that triggers intimal hyperplasia, a fibromuscular thickening of the vessel wall.
