Abstract

While the game design is the documentation of rules of a game play, the level design is the visualization of how a player confronts such rules. That is, it is about designing an environment (game levels) in which the player and the game interact in order to achieve the goal of the game. This study suggests an analytic system of level design for FPS games. Based on this system, it collects data on the player's behavior toward the cover pattern, which is one of the elements of level design, to immediately verify the game play intended by the game designer and describes a method to quantitatively compare.
