The analysis on the changes of the consumption structure of rural residents in China

Abstract

ABSTRACT The article analyzes the changes of the consumption structure of rural residents in china with describe statistical method. The results show that the consumption structure of rural residents is changing from Subsistence to Well-off ones, but they still take necessaries for life such as the food, house, etc. Th e disparities in consumption of residents become bigger in the different income levels, and this trend is developing and expanding further. The lower income residents whose life is in pressure need higher concerns. Keywords: rural residents, consumption structure, Engel Coefficient, different income levels 1. INTRODUCTION With the continuous reform of economic system, Chinese rural Gross National Product increases rapidly, residents’ income increases gradually, consumption level increases continually, consumption structure also has a lot of new changes. China is a large agricultural country, so whether national economy could develop sustainably and healthily, whether the fundamental interests and living quality of the nine hundred million peasants could be raised substantially and whether the objects of new village and a well-off society construction in an all-round way could be realized are directly determined by the changes of the consumption structure of rural residents. Therefore, analyzes the changes of the consumption structure of rural residents, and reveals its develop trend and regularity, then finds out the rational consumption structure of rural residents, this analysis has important meaning to promote economic growth and speed up the new village construction. Although there are many researches about the consumption structure of Chinese residents now, most of them are only use describe statistical method to describe and analyze the consumption situation of Chinese rural residents who in different income levels, and are put their attentions on the establishment of economic model, such as Li Rui(2003), Zhu Rui(2005) and Shen Hanxi(2006) used ELES analysis method , Guo Juan and Tang Huanwen(2003) used Panel Data analysis method, Shen Qiuhong(2007) based on Analytical Hierarchy Process and etc., to do researches on the consumption structure of Chinese rural residents
