Abstract
This paper studies the recording characteristics of MIG heads with various coercive force media and various recording frequencies. The MIG heads can saturate the media with high magnetic coercive force (up to H c = 1300 Oe). Overwrite is also discussed. In RLLC (2,7) coding methods, the linear bit density of MIG heads reached 36751 BPI (or 24500 FCI), the limiting conditions are: overwrite ≤ - 30 dB and resolution ≥ 70%.
