Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the mental identity of the German ethnic community, identify and analyze one of the dominant stereotyped linguistic and cultural concepts.Research methodology. The research uses such general scientific methods as theoretical and discursive analysis, observation, comparison and synthesis, generalization of scientific theories, reconstruction of the state concept of German linguocultural consciousness based on the study of linguocultural concept PÜNKTLICHKEIT.Results. One of mankind’s most powerful challenges remains to find the ways of the insight. It is in the realm of linguistic culture to deepen this process. After all, in the mental field of each ethnic group there are many axiogenic constants, and unique stereotyped linguocultural concepts circulate in the discursive fields of each language that are formed under the influence of their own ethno-specific field and historically recorded into the mental identity of the representatives of the language.Punctuality was, therefore, imbued with the mental identity of the Germans, primarily as a measure of the degree of self-respect and respect for another person. And this is the attitude of representatives of the German-speaking linguistic community from other ethnic groups and linguistic cultures in the process of dialogue and interaction. PÜNKTLICHKEIT is not only one of the major linguistic and cultural concepts in the mental identity of the Germans, but also a primary source for many other sign constants, and covers virtually all spheres of being of the German-speaking community, reaching an insight with which PÜNKTLICHKEIT is not possible.Novelty. A new perspective on the role of linguistic and cultural concepts in the development of the mental identity of Germans is proposed. The influence of the PÜNKTLICHKEIT concept is studied not only on the formation of the mental identity of its culture-bearers, but also on the building of their reputation among other peoples. The practical significance. This article is a theoretical justification for using traditional Germanic linguistic culture concepts, including emblematic German punctuality, as cognitive catalysts in the intercultural dialogue.
