Abstract

Objective To study the changes and significance of telomere lenghth in acute myelogenous leukaemia. Methods The method of Southern hybridization was used to estimate the length of telomere. Results Mean terminal restriction fragments (TRF) length of AML (7.6±2.1 kb) was significantly shorter than that of normal control(9.3±1.9 kb). Conclusion It suggests that the lose of telomere is a important change of genetics of AML in the process of malignant transformation .It may lead to chromosomal instability and play an important role in the occurrence and development of AML.
