Abstract

This paper is dedicated to the analysis of time series of measured values of electrical capacitance and dissipation factor of shielded and unshielded network cables based on twisted pair. It was shown that in case of applying parallel equivalent scheme of tested object with dielectric power losses the analysis of time series can be complicated by simultaneous increasing of dissipation factor with the increasing of electrical capacitance, as such dependence contradicts the admissible according to the applied equivalent scheme affect of electrical capacitance on measured values of dielectric dissipation factor. In this case difficulties can be caused by possible substantial discrepancy between the mean value of dissipation factor which corresponds to the value of electrical capacitance and the mean value of dissipation factor calculated for the whole array of obtained results of measurements, as such discrepancy causes ambiguity in possible interpretation of obtained results.
