Abstract
A novel dual-core elliptical holes hybrid Photonic Crystal Fiber (DC-PCF) is proposed. The hybrid DC-PCF provides high asymmetry which enhances the birefringence in the order of 10−2 at the telecommunication wavelength of 1550 nm. The transmission characteristics such as effective mode area, confinement loss, dispersion and bending loss are analyzed using perfectly matched layer (PML). The proposed DC-PCF provides effective stable mode area of 98.56 µm2 and with sufficient non-linear coefficient at 1550 nm. The hybrid DC-PCF attains a large Mode Field Diameter (MFD) of the 6.5 µm at the lattice length of 1.2 µm. The proposed structure achieves the low bending loss of 10−1 to 10−2 dB/m with low confinement loss of 10−2 to 10−3 dB/m with low confinement loss of 10−1 to 10−2 dB/km at 1550 nm respectively.
