Abstract

Measles remains a major cause of child mortality despite the availability of a safe and effective live attenuated virus vaccine (LAV).Recent efforts to improve routine vaccination and implement national immunization days have enhanced measles control. One persistent impediment to measles control in many countries remains the inability to successfully immunize young infants due to the immaturity of the immune system and interference of maternal antibodies with immune responses to LAV.Therefore, many strategies are emerging for the development of a vaccine for young infants. As potential improvements, some new vaccines or novel deliveries of reconstituted liquid LAMV have been studied but have never been licensed or widely used. This review concentiates the progress of measles vaccine studies both at home and abroad. Key words: Measles ; Measles vaccine; Immunization
