Abstract

A number of gas-dynamic designs of centrifugal compressors in turbo-expander units were performed by the Universal Modeling Method by Prof. Y. Galerkin for JSC Turbokholod. Three samples of the TK-3 compressor are tested as part of the unit at the manufacturer’s bench with compressed air supplied from an external source first to the compressor, then to the turbine. Three more TK-3 compressors are tested with suction from atmosphere. The measurement results are presented in the form of dimensionless characteristics calculated by the authors’ algorithm. The measured values of efficiency and work coefficient vary considerably between different compressor samples for both types of tests. The calculation of the characteristics in accordance with the standard 8th version of the mathematical model of the Universal Modeling Method showed a good correspondence between the efficiency and the pressure coefficients to the averaged experimental values.
