Abstract

Objective To observe the changes of astigmatism of 1.2mm micro-incision phacocmulsification with corneal topography. Methods Seventy-five patients (89 eyes) with age-related cataract were divided into two groups in random.Thirty-four patients (40 eyes) were treated with bimanual microphacoemulsification which incision was 1.2mm and implanted with Acri.smart IOL while other 41 patients (49 eyes) were treated with conventional phacoemulsification which incision was 3.2mm and implanted with AR40e IOL.The visual acuity, changes of corneal topography were observed. Results The uncorrected visual acuity of bimanual group was bctter than conventional group in 1 day and 1 week after surgery (x~2=7.673,6.027,P=0.022,0.049<0.05).The astigmatisms of bimanual group were significantly lower than conventional group in 1 week and 1 month after surgery (t=-2.778,-2.050,P=0.012,0.042<0.05).The surgery induced astigmatisms of bimanual group were significantly lower than conventional group in 1 week and 1 month after surgery (t=-3.271,-3.107,P=0.004,0.004 <0.05).The surface regularity index and surface asymmetry index of bimanual group were lower than conventional group in 1 week after surgery.Conelusions The astigmatism of 1.2mm micro-incision phacoemulsification is very low and can get better visual acuity.
