The analysis of 106 cases of traumatic basal ganglia hematoma due to traffic accident department of neurysurgery

Abstract

Objective To discuss the occurrence, diagnosis and treatment of the traumatic basal ganglia hematoma due to traffic accident. Method Retrospectively analyze the clinical process and the treatment of 106 cases of the traumatic basal ganglia hematoma due to traffic accident. Results Sixty-seven cases were only basal ganglia hematoma,thirty-nine cases accompanied other organs injury. Ninty-four cases were taken operation, tewelve eases were taken the conservative treatment. GOS of all the patients were determined after 6 months. Thirty-five cases were in good prognosis, forty-seven cases were in moderate disability ,eleven cases were in severe disability,thirteen cases dead. Conclusions Sudden head rotation in traffic accident maybe cause the traumatic basal ganglia hematoma, CT scan is the prefered diagnostic method. Treatment should include brain protection.
