Abstract

Corpus Dionysiacum (CD) is known mostly, in modern times, for the philosophical terminology of Neoplatonic origin, for its borrowings from Proclus on the vision about evil and, for the unique way in Christianity to present the spiritual and material universe as an ontological downward spiral în triadic steps. Some scholars accuse its author of forgery to mask non-Christian teachings in a Christian shape. This skeptical reception of the mysterious writings eludes the scriptural and patristic sources used by the same author in an overwhelming percentage. Therefore, it is of interest for an objective perspective to take a look at these issues, before pronouncing a verdict. This short study gets a glimpse of the biblical heritage in CD, highlighting the anagogical understanding of the scriptural symbols, an argument for the Christian milieu of the addressees of the writings and their author.
