Abstract

The AMS-02 tracker consists of eight layers of double-sided silicon microstrip sensors which are used to measure the particle rigidity in the 0.8 T field of a cylindrical superconducting magnet. The magnetic spectrometer is designed to operate on the International Space Station (ISS) to provide an unprecedented high precision measurement of the cosmic-ray spectra in the energy range between 1 GeV and several TeV, for particle charge up to Z = 26 .
