Abstract

The AAPG is vitally concerned about geoscience education for people of all ages. The keynote theme for our 1990–91 term is “Education, Exploration and Employment.” Nine of AAPG's twenty-three standing committees are directly involved in educational activities and many of the others have peripheral responsibilities in education. The Committee on Youth Activities serves as a liaison between the Association and the Boy Scouts of America and other similar organizations. One project of the Committee is to establish a database of the names and addresses of science-fair winners in the earth-science category and geology merit-badge recipients and to make this list available to university and college geology departments as a recruiting tool. The Committee on Conventions helps plan and coordinate AAPG's annual meeting and other conferences and symposia.
