Abstract

Recently, the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) revised its faculty qualifications and intellectual contributions accreditation standards to accommodate the diverse missions of its member schools. The historical role of the AACSB as supporter of the disciplinary community may be inconsistent with the intentions of these new standards. By not considering the expectations of the disciplinary communities prior to formulating, disseminating, and implementing new standards, the AACSB may be establishing academic policy that will have little impact on faculty selection and reward structures at member schools.
