Abstract
Study of ticks from giant tortoises, Geochelone elephantopus subspp., in the Galapagos Islands reveals 3 Amblyomma species parasitizing this host: A. usingeri , n. sp., A. macfarlandi , n. sp., and A. pilosum Neumann. Each active stage in the life cycle of these species is described and illustrated. Amblyomma boulengeri Hirst & Hirst, previously incorrectly considered to be synonymous with A. pilosum (sensu Robinson), is a distinct species parasitic on land iguanas and lava lizards.
