Abstract

AbstractMethyl methacrylate/isoprene copolymers are hydrolysed in an alkaline medium to different degrees depending upon their compositions. The limiting degrees of hydrolysis can be correlated with the calculated distributions of sequences in the copolymers. A small amount of exchange of methoxy groups between methanol and the copolymer accompanies hydrolysis.
