Abstract

From May to mid-September most winged green peach aphids, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), were collected in water-filled yellow-pan traps placed on the ground. However, in late summer and autumn, coincident with the return of the aphid to peach trees, greater numbers were collected in traps placed at elevations of 5, 10, and 15 feet. Also, the response of some species of aphids that infest low-growing host plants was greatest to traps placed on the ground or at 5 ft above ground, but that of species that normally infest tall trees was frequently greatest to traps at elevations of 10 ft or more above ground.
