Abstract

A study of the sediments, non-marine mollusca and periglacial structures of the Hanborough Terrace of the River Evenlode, Oxfordshire, indicates that the deposits collected during a period of extremely cold to sub-arctic conditions. The present chronology of terrace development in the upper and middle Thames is reviewed. The most satisfactory correlation of the Hanborough Terrace is considered to be with an early stage of the Wolstonian Glaciation of the Midlands.
