Abstract
Electronographic BV photometry of NGC 288 has been obtained, giving the colour–magnitude diagram down to V = 21.0, two magnitudes below the turn-off point. The main sequence is bluer than has been found in previous work and lies close to the position expected for a normal globular cluster. Adopting externally derived values for the metallicity, distance modulus and reddening, the VandenBerg theoretical isochrone for an age of between 16 and 17 Gyr fits well. The problems in an accurate age determination are discussed.
