Abstract
Cluster headache is often considered to be one of the most painful forms of headache. The symptoms of cluster headache are distinct from other types of headache but sufferers often do not receive the right diagnosis and treatment when they seek help. This is particularly difficult given the degree of suffering the patient must endure from the condition and sometimes inappropriate treatments. In this article an overview of the presentation of cluster headache is provided, and the available treatment options are outlined with reference to the nurse's role.
