Abstract

More and more adults are now presenting for orthodontic treatment. They not only present with malocclusions of varying severity but also additional restorative and periodontal needs requiring well coordinated interdisciplinary care. In addition, today?s adult patients also present with a demand for more aesthetic and less visible orthodontic appliances. This paper discusses the important considerations in managing adult orthodontic patients. It also highlights recent technological advances that enable us to better plan the management of adult patients as well as the available aesthetic treatment options and their strengths and weaknesses.
