Abstract
Abstract The adsorption of p-nitroaniline PNA on polycrystalline silver and gold electrodes from neutral and acidic electrolyte solutions saturated with PNA has been studied using Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy. With both electrode metals a perpendicular orientation of the adsorbed molecule with an interaction via the nitro-group is concluded based on SER spectra recorded at various electrode potentials. No evidence of new surface species formed upon adsorption of PNA was found.
