Abstract

The dispersion of solid particles in water is often influenced considerably by addition of a small amount of a water-soluble substance. The dispersion effect of nonionic ethoxylated surfactants depended on both the chemical structure and the particles to be dispersed. The suitable number of ethylene oxide chain and its adsorption onto the particle were found necessary for the dispersive function of the surface-active agent. The adsorption cross-sectional area and it spectrum when adsorbed, were also discussed.
