Abstract

Abstract The adsorption of Ag and Au on W (211) is studied as a function of coverage and temperature using AES, LEED, work function change (Δφ) measurements and thermal desorption spectroscopy. The combination of these techniques gives a detailed picture of the structure and the growth mode of the layers and shows that similar to the W (110) surface but dissimilar to the W (100) surface attractive lateral interactions occur in the submonolayer range.
