Abstract

The American Academy of Pediatrics is to be commended for issuing a statement on the need for adoptive homes for black children (Pediatrics, 48:325, 1971). Although tardy, the Academy's Committee on Adoptions and Dependent Care addressed itself to a pressing problem of child care and welfare. It is indeed unfortunate that the statement is incomplete and misleading. It suffers from a lack of information. In some instances, the lack of information is not the fault of the Committee but should certainly be a concern of the Committee.
