Summary

Introduction

Vocabulary, as the foundation of any language, holds an important rank in the linguistic systems. Vocabulary learning is vital to foreign language acquisition. Research shows that the vocabulary level of English majors at college is not optimistic at present. This is partly due to the fact that many English teachers deal with English vocabulary teaching in the traditional way, which has many problems. It costs a great deal of time of the teacher to explain and analyze the usages of the words, usually in isolation. The students cannot use the vocabulary flexibly and they feel bored of the traditional teaching model.
