Petersen serves as Christian Nielsen associate professor of film studies at Eckerd College. She has published on issues of affect and identity in relation to American silent film as well as the modernist aspects of the Gothic woman’s film and the American youth film. She is currently at work on a book on Harold Lloyd’s The Freshman (1925) for Routledge Press.
