Abstract

Abstract The oral toxicity of an anticoagulant, brodifacoum, was tested with dogs of mixed breed, age, and sex. In the first trial using 20 dogs, predominantly under 2 years old, an acute oral LD50 of 1.09 kg kg−1 (95% confidence limits, 0.49–2.42 kg kg−) was derived. In the second trial with 59 mixed age dogs an acute oral LD50 of 3.56 mg kg−1 (2.13–6.03 mg kg−1) resulted. No significant differences as a result of age or sex were found.
