Abstract
A method of activating Medium Impact Polystyrene by using a plasm is described. The activated components is metallised by a chemical silver spray method, wich has been shown to be more reliable than electroless metallisation for the continuous deposition of a metallic coating on a complex shaped component. It has been found that the thickness of the silver film is less than 0.2 μm, and is deposited with an overall efficiency of less than 10%. Consideration is given to the plasma activation conditions as well as the mixing techniques and operating conditions of the silver spray solutions
