Abstract
Results of treatment of {100} and {110} faces of synthetic diamond with dispersed iron at catalyzed hydrogenation are presented. The experiments were held at a temperature of 900 °C in flow hydrogen medium. The regular behavior of iron particles on the surface of diamond crystals was established. It was found that breaking of –C–C- bonds in diamond during its dissolution in the metal-catalyst is the limiting stage of the process.
