Abstract

AbstractThe following have been made by the action of hydrazine and/or methyl‐hydrazine on 1: 3‐dichloro‐4: 6‐dinitrobenzene in alcoholic solution: 3‐chloro‐4: 6‐dinitrophenylhydrazine, α‐(3‐chloro‐4: 6‐dinitrophenyl)‐α‐methylhydrazino)‐4: 6‐dinitrobenzene and l‐hydrazino‐3‐(α‐methylhydrazino)‐4: 6‐dinitrobenzene.A number of derivatives of each of the above mentioned compounds were prepared by condensation with various aldehydes and ketones.A start has also been made with an investigation on the oxidation of substituted phenylene di‐(methyl) hydrazines with different oxidising agents.
