Abstract
In the continually evolving world of American health care, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) strives to be a leader in health policy, a guarantor of educational quality, and an advocate for resident physicians. The ACGME’s [1] mission statement is as follows: The mission of the ACGME is to improve the quality of health care in the United States by ensuring and improving the quality of graduate medical education experiences for physicians in training. The ACGME establishes national standards for graduate medical education by which it approves and continually assesses educational programs under its aegis.
